Carolina Cup

I went to Carolina Cup this weekend and it went alright. I saw a lot of wild things that were pretty ridiculous. I actually watched two horse races and I had no idea they made jumps. I bought a t-shirt, and got to see a lot of old friends. Then it started to rain and it was really cold. The ride there and getting out was very long. All in all it wasn't what it's cracked up to be but it was fun. I doubt I'll go back again.

Lying on Resumez

I believe it is a very big deal to lie on a resume. It really surprised me that 50% of people lie on their resumes. It makes me feel like the competition isn't fair and the only to get ahead of those 50% is to lie myself. Lying cheats out those who really worked did the work required for the job. What happens to those people that went for the job and was very close competition to the person that cheated and got the job. Will they get called back after the other person got fired? No, doubt it. That's where the moral obligation of the applicant comes in. Maybe there should be more emphasis on moral obligations and right things that should be done, instead of what will get you ahead.

Presentations(when the computer was working)

I thought one of the most interesting presentations given in class was the one on Mexico by Rene Onate. It was a very interesting perspective that he gave on Mexico that wouldn't be what you would recieve from an ordinary travel agency. It included things such as corrupt cops and some types of common crimes. It was also good to know that American liscense plates are targeted. I had no idea that I needed so many things to actually get into Mexico and that tequila was taxed coming out haha. I kept that handout that he gave because I want to go Mexico and it already has a list of everything I need on there. Also since he has been there so many times his credibility on the subject is very high. There was also a slight comedic tone during the presentation that made it even better. Like Angela said it's always good to have all types of perspectives on a subject.

"The Interview"

The day of the interview I guess I was a little nervous. I just tried not to think to much about it but not totally ignoring the fact that I had to do it. When I got there I had the chance to talk to a couple of my classmates which loosened me up a little bit. When I actually got into the interview I wasn't sure what to expect. I did pretty good on most of the questions, but there was one question that I was really unprepared for. When asked, "What is one thing that you would change about your personality?'", I was very thrown off. I kind of came up with an answer, but it wasn't very good in my opinion. Not even sure if it related to my personality haha. But all in all I wasn't as nervous as expected, but I am going to work on my interview presence and speech. I also need to get me a suit.
