"The Interview"

The day of the interview I guess I was a little nervous. I just tried not to think to much about it but not totally ignoring the fact that I had to do it. When I got there I had the chance to talk to a couple of my classmates which loosened me up a little bit. When I actually got into the interview I wasn't sure what to expect. I did pretty good on most of the questions, but there was one question that I was really unprepared for. When asked, "What is one thing that you would change about your personality?'", I was very thrown off. I kind of came up with an answer, but it wasn't very good in my opinion. Not even sure if it related to my personality haha. But all in all I wasn't as nervous as expected, but I am going to work on my interview presence and speech. I also need to get me a suit.

My Day Today

wells i woke up bout 5 times and kept goin back to sleep and the i finally got up because i was hungry and really need to go to the library. I brushed my teeth and took a shower then looked to see if my roomate had left(because i live with 3 other people and one of the guys was new this semester and was just here for a few weeks because he was a grad student going to PT school) and yes he had already left. He left me a note downstairs and then i cut on the tv and ate my sub. Then sat around wasting time watch the flavor of love on VH1 and then my other roomates walked in from athens, Ga. After they got here i left and went to the library. when i got there i went to the first floor and took 6 hours to complete my first full length MCAT. i left and went to eat at zaxbys. oh yah before i went to the library i rented michael clayton from bilo. after i ate zaxbys i went back to my place and did my push up workout then i sat down to write this blog. gotta go watch that movie now....

Being Unique

All of these different types of hints and tips remind me that being unique is very important. You don't want your resume and cover letter being like everyone else's. You need to be specific and very persuasive when talking about a company and how they would benefit from hiring you. All of the advice here is pretty straightfoward. I don't think I could say that any of this was disagreeable because I don't have much experience with cover letters. The cover letter checklist is very handy when writing your cover letter. I believe this might be the first thing that I have available to me when I start. I'd probably have it out so I could look at it when I am actually composing my cover letter. I had never heard of cover letters before I came to this class, so this all of this information will be very helpful for my mock interview.

InterviewzzzZz

This was a very interesting topic to write a blog about and one of the most important to student's our age. Going into an interview can be very stressful and this site gave a lot of information to deal with that. I may be going to an interview very soon with an employer in this area and I will definitely use what I have found on here. One of the links I found most important was the what to ask the employer. I've been in an interview before and left without asking any questions. Bad Idea seeing as how they asked me if I had any questions. This gives me an idea of what to ask and to be prepared when they ask me if I have anything to ask. Also the link about how to answer the 5 hardest questions assisted me in thinking about what my employer might ask. Going into an interview prepared is a very good idea, and something I haven't done in the past. In the future my interviews now will be a stepping stones and learning experiences. These types of websites will be very beneficial to anyone who takes the time to read them.

Martin Luther King Jr.'s letter from the Birmingham Jail stemmed from the happenings of the civil rights movement. He focused his attention on those individuals who felt that fair treatment was something being ignored. His ethos was established well before he ever wrote this letter. He was looked upon as a very prominent and well respected civil rights activist. From his many speeches including the "I Have a Dream" speech in Washington D.C to Rosa Parks, he has gained the respect of a suppressed nation. With this speech to the nation given by Adolf Hitler in 1933 as president/chancellor, he used his great oratory ability to convince a weakened nation. His ethos came with his position after WWI when Germany was in a state of economical and emotional turmoil. Hitler's logos came from his experience as a military and government head. He told the nation how he was going to help bring them back after a collapse and his strategy to do that. He basically gave in steps that seemed so easy to follow how the European nation would be better than ever before. His logos was also shown when he gave the amount in years that Germany had been "held down" by the ruling previously. I wish I could have been able to see the video of Hitler's speech to the German nation because I believe the emotion and pathos was overwhelming. Martin Luther King Jr. looked to the spirit of downed African Americans in a white dominating nation to fuel the emotion he showed in all the walks of his life. Hitler in the same way was looking to his nation's spirits saying, "For when our nation lost its political place in the world, it soon lost its unity of spirit and will...." Both of these two individuals had a very prominent place in history whether it be for better or worse. They had the ability to speak. They had the ability to change.
Our guest speakers used their ethos of being in the military and logos of their acquired knowledge. Just as Hitler did.

Decade Away

hmmm ten years... well i hope that the Mayans and many other scientists aren't correct when speculating that the world is going to end in 2012. I believe there are about 10 societies, physicist, and scientists that believe this is the case.( http://www.msghelp.net/showthread.php?tid=74463 ) that's the link if anyone is interested. It's actually all quite interesting but i won't go into that. I hope to do well on the MCAT so i will be through med school and continuing with my residency and hopefully specializing in opthalmology. Maybe during that time or soon after I can start a family and be living is a really nice place...maybe a city. I hope to have two doberman pinschers that will live in my home with me. I want to be very successful and respected. I love to learn so this will be a great opportunity to go through medical school and slam my brain with knowledge. It's really hard to say what it is going to be like in ten years, but I believe i will get to see a lot of new developments and awesome things. Maybe even a little space travel....

Web 2.0

Wow this video is reiterating about everything that everyone has said about computers. That computers are taking over the world. This is true and it is a good thing. It bothers me when people talk bad about computers and say that they are causing too much dependency and change. Computers mean more to our civilization and how the world works than gravity. This video shows how you can do so much with computers and view so much information without a lot of hassle. It is talking about how it links people from around the world and spreads ideas. For example, I saw a button at the top of my screen that said next blog and was wondering what it was. I clicked it about four times and each time it came up to a blog that was in another language from someone in another country. This shows you that the internet is a place for people to get away and share their thoughts and more over cables and satellites. Anyone who is going into a workforce that has anything to do with technology needs to have some knowledge of Web 2.0. Computers aren't going anywhere, so those dealing with or about to be dealing with computes need to wake up and be prepared. Rethink Everything A.K.A. Learn
